With a Bachelors degree in engineering, a Master of Science in business, and a 38 year military career in the public sector as a Navy Supply Corps officer, Dan McCarthy brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective of both public and private sector business practices to Silver Eagle Consulting, Inc.

Dan’s business expertise includes experience in the retail, transportation, supply chain management, operational logistics, personnel and financial management arenas. He headed the organization tasked with responsibility for supply chain management of navy operating forces (Naval Supply Systems Command) and served as Chief Financial Officer and later Chief Operating Officer of the Defense Logistics Agency, responsible for the inventory management, warehousing, and disposal of a wide array of the Defense Department’s clothing, subsistence, medical supplies, petroleum products and spare parts supporting all military Services. He is a certified Government Financial Manager and an Aquisition Professional.

Dan’s last military assignment was a groundbreaking one, the first Supply Corps Officer assigned to a Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (DCNO) position. Responsible for Fleet Readiness and Logistics support, Dan also acted as the principle sponsor for Navy logistics innovation, served as the Navy’s voice in joint logistics matters, and headed the Navy’s Sea Enterprise initiative focused on transforming the business practices of the Navy.

For the past 20 years Dan has also developed experience in the area of executive education. From his assignment as head of the Navy Supply Corps School (the Navy’s primary entry-level institution for business, supply chain, transportation and operational logistics education), to his routine appearances as part of the Navy’s executive education program leading seminars in leadership development and business transformation, Dan is a sought after speaker and seminar leader in executive development. He currently serves as Adjunct Faculty and as a member of the Corporate Advisory Board at the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.

At the board level Dan currently serves as a Director of Agility Defense and Government Services and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. He previously served as a member of the President's Committee for the Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled, as a Senior Fellow for the Institute for Defense and Business, as Chairman of the Defense Commissary Agency’s Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the Navy Resale, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Board. He has over ten years board experience with the Boy Scouts of America and currently serves as President of the National Capital Area Council and as a member of the Northeast Region Board and the International Scouting Committee.

Dan has been three times recognized with the highest peacetime awards presented by the Department of Defense and the Department of the Navy. He has also been awarded the Chapel of Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Gold Medallion, an honor he shares with several U.S. Presidents; the Boy Scouts of American Silver Antelope Award; the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Distinguished Service Award; and the City of Honolulu Mahalo Award.
